Mauricio Pochettino says he is pleased that Tottenham fans seem to be warming to Moussa Sissoko.

The midfielder has had plenty of critics since his big-money move to north London from Newcastle.

But he has been given a standing ovation by supporters when being substituted late on in Spurs’ last two matches, against Cardiff and West Ham.

And boss Pochettino said: “He’s a very honest and professional player. You know what you are going to receive from him.

“In a squad of 25 players you need different types of player. Moussa provides the team with a very good balance.

“I am happy the fans are starting to see him as a player that helps the team and the club and recognise his value.

“He will always give you all he has inside and that is very good for the team.

“I am so happy the fans are starting to recognise him and his value.”

Speaking at a press conference following the 1-0 win at West Ham, Pochettino also praised Erik Lamela, whose goal gave them the points.

“We believe in him, we trust him, and he’s a player that is more mature,” Pochettino said.
