Pochettino: Spurs signings could take two years to deliver

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has warned that the club’s summer signings will need to time to settle.

Spurs have endured a miserable start to the season and their fans will be hoping that Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon can inspire an upturn.

However, Pochettino believes they could take up to two years to find their best form for the club.

“For me, when you sign a player, despite the amount you pay, with the profile of Tanguy Ndombele or Giovani Lo Celso or Ryan Sessegnon you need minimum one year and a half, or two years,” said Pochettino, as reported by the Daily Telegraph.

“Look at what happened with Son [Heung-min] or [Moussa] Sissoko. They started to perform in year two, year three. Today the market is the market. You cannot judge the player because you paid some kind of amount. They need time to show their real quality.”

Pochettino has also admitted that the filming of an Amazon documentary about the club has been difficult.

“Now I am like a producer. Being coach, manager and producer,” he said.

“The most important is to live the reality, it’s not to try to generate something that is fake or not real.”
