Pochettino on the need for Spurs to spend in January – and for fans to ‘value’ Sissoko

Pochettino praised Spurs’ match-winner Erik Lamela, whose goal secured the points, and the in-form Moussa Sissoko.

Pochettino also insisted that Spurs – the only Premier League club not to make a summer signing – need to strengthen the squad when the transfer window reopens in January.

“In January we are going to try to sign players,” he said.

“Today we can say ‘well done’ but if you ask me if I’m happy, yes I’m happy with the result but I think you cannot play with destiny, you need to build the team properly.

“We need as a club in January to try to refresh the squad to move the club on.”
