Jamie Redknapp slates Tottenham man as Mourinho’s side struggle at Norwich

Jamie Redknapp slated Juan Foyth after the Tottenham defender’s mistake led to a Norwich goal in the 2-2 draw.

Spurs trailed 1-0 at half-time at Carrow Road, where the visitors were punished after Foyth had given the ball away.

Christian Eriksen equalised early in the second half but an own goal by Serge Aurier put the Canaries back in front before Harry Kane’s penalty secured a point.

The mistake will do little to win over Foyth’s critics – and former Tottenham midfielder Redknapp did not hold back in his criticism of him in his half-time analysis on Sky Sports.

There was criticism too of Toby Alderweireld and keeper Paulo Gazzaniga, who were both at fault as well.

Redknapp said: “I think Gazziniga has got to do better. Alderweireld’s got to close the ball.

“Foyt, every time I watch him he makes a mistake that costs Spurs a goal. He’s got to learn the basics. Keep it simple.

“It’s a poor mistake. It’s a catalogue of mistakes there from Tottenham.”

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho seemingly felt the same way – he made a double substitution at half-time in an attempt to turn the game around.

Davinson Sanchez and Lucas Moura replaced Jan Vertonghen and Foyth – and Spurs were soon back in the match courtesy of Eriksen’s brilliant free-kick.

Norwich regained the lead on the hour mark but Kane kept his composure from the spot to make it 2-2.
