Hodgson hopeful Zaha will stay at Palace

Roy Hodgson is hopeful Wilfried Zaha will stay at Crystal Palace this summer.

There has been much speculation over Zaha’s future, with Tottenham and Chelsea among the clubs to have been linked with him.

But he is under contract at Selhurst Park until 2022 and Palace boss Hodgson has no doubt the player is committed to the club.

“He’s such an important player for Crystal Palace, he’s basically a Crystal Palace player through and through,” Hodgson said at a press conference on Thursday afternoon.

“He had a short spell at Manchester United, but basically he’s a player that we regard as our own, so of course we’d like to keep him.

“Transfer speculation will always be rife, there’s no doubt about that. There will always be suggestions that this and that player is on the move. We can do nothing about that.

“Wilfried certainly shows no sign of having any other thoughts other than helping his club to get through these last four games and still be in the Premier League this season.

“To the simple question ‘would we at Crystal Palace like Wilfried Zaha to stay?’ then of course the answer is ‘yes’ and he has four years on his contract, so let’s hope that will be sufficient.”

Palace have lost all 10 of the Premier League matches Zaha has not started this season.
