Harry Winks was likened to Luka Modric, Scott Parker, Micky Hazard, Steve Perryman and even Xavi and Andres Iniesta by Tottenham fans on Twitter after his display against CSKA Moscow.
The 20-year-old, on only his second Champions League start, barely wasted any of the 113 passes he made in the 3-1 win at Wembley.
As a result, he was placed in some exalted company by Spurs fans excited by Winks’ potential.
Harry Winks tonight looked like the Modric replacement we have been crying out for, hope he can replicate it against better opposition! COYS

Harry Winks is going to be an absolute star. He’s like a mix of Parker and Modrić. Never lost the ball once tonight and broke up play nicely

Others were more measured and chose to place Winks in a class of his own.

Winks is the kind of midfielder who will always be under valued, does all the little things well and always looks to go forwards #coys

Just as a side note, Harry Winks looks very assured in midfield. Definitely the next youngster to breakthrough without question #COYS
