Paper round-up: Spurs snub Portugal star

The Daily Mail say Tottenham have ruled out a move for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes, potentially paving the way for him to join Manchester United.

Spurs and United are among a number of English clubs to be linked with the Portugal international, who has been touted for a move to the Premier League.

Clubs have been made aware of his potential availability but the Mail say Spurs have rejected the chance to sign him and that it remains to be seen whether United decide to snap him up.

Leicester City are also said to have turned down Fernandes, with Sporting reportedly demanding as much as £50m for him.

Meanwhile, the Daily Star say Leeds United will reject any move by Spurs for Jack Clarke this summer.

Spurs have been linked with the highly-rated young winger, who impressed in the Championship last season.

But the Star say Leeds are ready to turn down approaches for both Clarke and midfielder Kalvin Phillips, who has this week been linked with newly promoted Aston Villa.

And The Sun say Tottenham are spending £1m on improving the players’ lounge at their new stadium just two months after its opening.
