Gary Cahill and Harry Kane scored as England beat Nigeria 2-1 in their penultimate friendly before the World Cup.

Several players from clubs in the capital featured in the game at Wembley. Here’s how we rated each of the London contingent.

England

Kieran Trippier: 7
Lively in the first half and solid in the second. The Tottenham man, playing at right wing-back, was heavily involved early on and saw a free-kick tipped away before delivering the resulting corner onto the head of Cahill for the opening goal.

Gary Cahill: 7
The Chelsea captain enjoyed a goalscoring return to the England side. Netted with a fine header from Trippier’s corner and always looked composed on the left of the back three.

Eric Dier: 7
Strong and physically imposing in midfield, Tottenham’s Dier had a very decent game and was involved in the build up to England’s second goal. Might have scored himself in the second half but headed wide from Ashley Young’s corner. He also set up a late chance for Danny Welbeck.

Dele Alli: 7
Alli, whose father is from Nigeria, was booed by their fans and had a fairly quiet second half before being substituted late on. The Spurs playmaker was much more involved in the first half, during which he created a chance for Raheem Sterling with an excellent pass.

Harry Kane: 7
England’s captain led the line well, linking play nicely and causing Nigeria’s defence problems with his clever movement. Scored courtesy of some dismal goalkeeping but it was a firm strike from the Tottenham forward, whose goal was his 46th in his last 53 appearances for club and country.

Danny Rose: 6
The Tottenham left-back did the basics well without making much of an impact after coming on for Young in the second half.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek: 7
The Chelsea man made an immediate impact after coming on, finding space on the right and delivering a dinked cross which just evaded Kane. Looks very much at home on the international stage.

Danny Welbeck: 6
Denied by a last-ditch challenge from William Troost-Ekong after being sent through on goal by Dier soon after the Arsenal forward came off the bench.

Nigeria

Victor Moses: 6
The Chelsea wide-man found the going tough on the flank. Managed one effort on goal but overall had little joy going forward. He got through plenty of good defensive work though.

Alex Iwobi: 7
The Arsenal youngster had a good game and scored for the visitors with an emphatic finish early in the second half. He’ll be well pleased with his performance.
