Edwards scores as Spurs U23s draw at Liverpool

Marcus Edwards scored for Tottenham’s development side as they secured a 1-1 draw against Liverpool despite playing most of the game at Anfield with only 10 men.

Timothy Eyoma was sent off after just three minutes for handling a shot from Glen McAuley.

Adam Lewis missed the resulting penalty but the home side went ahead just before the quarter-hour mark courtesy of Bobby Adekanye, who was adjudged to have been onside.

But Spurs hit back eight minutes later, with Edwards beating his man and slotting home after latching onto Troy Parrott’s pass.

And Parrott was involved midway through the second half in creating another chance for Edwards, who was denied by keeper Caoimhin Kelleher.
