Croatia v England ratings: How the London contingent fared

England played out an uninspiring 0-0 draw with Croatia in the Nations League. Here’s how we rated the London contingent.

Eric Dier: 6
The Tottenham man dropped very deep to take possession of the ball, often playing alongside the two centre-backs. Hit the post with a header.

Ross Barkley: 6
Showed some neat flicks and wanted the ball but also gave away possession on a number of occasions. Overall, a disappointing showing from the Chelsea midfielder having been given a chance to impress.

Harry Kane: 5
Fewest touches on the pitch in the opening half but hit the woodwork with a header after the break. Suggestions he the Tottenham striker needs a rest are likely to continue on this showing.

Mateo Kovacic: 6
Croatia’s Chelsea midfielder was neat and tidy without ever getting out of second gear. The home side were comfortable in the centre of the park as England lacked a creative spark.

Gad – Why are we playing exhausted starting players in unimportant ridiculous “International” games in front of zero fans? Is this a plot to weaken the better teams by demanding they put themselves out for silly6 jingoistic games?

Please give Kane and Dier a rest. Also I don’t understand the criticism of Dier; he is the most flexible of players, can drop into a back three and go forward to make a three in midfield, all in the same game !! A managers dream player.
