Chris Martin
Rangers have lacked a presence up front, despite Matt Smith becoming an increasingly important presence. Striker Martin played under McClaren at Derby, where he has been out of the first-team picture for much of the last couple of seasons. He ended this term on loan at Reading and spent last season on loan from the Rams at Fulham.
Martin had an up and down time during his spell in west London. He made an impact at Craven Cottage, scoring 11 goals for Fulham, who prevented him returning to the East Midlands when Martin made it clear he wanted to end his season-long loan and return to Derby to play under McClaren.
Craig Bryson
Another who played under McClaren at Derby and spent this season elsewhere on loan – in Bryson’s case, Cardiff City. He managed just 19 starts for the promoted Bluebirds, having spent a couple of months out injured, and his future is unclear. Could the new QPR boss move for a man who scored 16 goals from midfield for McClaren’s Derby in the 2013-14 campaign, which ended with them losing to the R’s in the Championship play-off final?
David McGoldrick
Another possible option as Rangers look to bolster their strikeforce. They are among the clubs to have been linked with the Ipswich forward, who is out of contract. McGoldrick has plenty Championship experience, having been at Nottingham Forest prior to his five-year spell in Suffolk.
