QPR chief gives important transfer update – and it’s not what fans want to hear

Mark Warburton has told QPR fans not to expect a busy January.

Manager Warburton has been working to a tight budget at Loftus Road and says the club will not be in a position to spend when the transfer window opens.

Instead the club will be focusing on the loan market in an attempt to beef up their squad for the second half of the season.

“I think January will be very low-key for us in terms of spending money. It’s important that the club stays on a firm foundation,” Warburton told Sky Sports.

“Use the loan market wisely if we can, add one or two if we can, but it’s about a long-term project and hopefully we can get the firm foundations to build and take the club to a good place.

“We’re probably one of the five or six budgets in the division, which is fine. You deal with it and you work hard together.”

Warburton will also be hoping to keep hold of star forward Ebere Eze, who continues to be linked with Premier League clubs, including Tottenham.

Spurs are reported to be interested in a potential deal for the England Under-21 international, who has been outstanding this season.
