QPR and Norwich City chasing striker deal

Norwich City are reportedly interested in Dundee United striker Lawrence Shankland.

QPR have been linked with the Scotland international, with director of football Les Ferdinand having recently travelled to see him in action.

Reports north of the border have declared that the R’s are very keen to sign Shankland – and that other clubs are keen.

And the Scottish Sun say Norwich have joined the race to sign him ahead of the approaching transfer deadline.

Dundee United assistant boss Lee McCulloch has suggested the Scottish Championship leaders are braced for bids – including from Glasgow Rangers and Celtic.

McCulloch said: “It’s so important we keep Lawrence at the club. We want to keep him as long as we can, but I’d be staggered if bids don’t come in for him this month.

“Both of the Old Firm must be interested in him simply because of the goals return he has.

“Lawrence can play as a lone striker or one of two up front and you can see how good he is outside the box as well. His touch and his movement have both improved.

“He’s also shown a bit of resilience after things didn’t work out for him at Aberdeen, by joining Ayr then moving to Tannadice.

“Shanks works so hard — he goes into the gym before and after training every day. He’s grounded and always wants to do extra, which is great to see.”
