QPR look at trialists in U23 game

QPR are giving a trial to Liverpool youngster Kris Owens and continue to look at Tottenham’s Charlie Owens.

West London Sport report that left-back Owens, 18, has linked up with Rangers and played for their development side against Watford on Friday.

So too did MK Dons youngster Peter Kioso – another full-back on trial with the R’s – and Spurs midfielder Owens, who has been training with the west London club for several weeks.

QPR won 3-0 at Vicarage Road, where Aramide Oteh, Josh Bowler and Ebere Eze scored for the visitors.

Rangers have looked at young players from a number of Premier League clubs this year with a view to possibly signing them in the summer.

In the short term, they face a derby at Brentford today knowing that they are still not mathematically safe from relegation following five consecutive defeats.

“I want to get back to winning ways because this is a horrible feeling,” manager Ian Holloway told the club’s website.

“It’s been a very frustrating period. When we went into the international break after beating Rotherham I felt we were in a very good place.

“But have I seen the same people do the same things they were doing before that break? I expected those people to maintain that level of performance. That hasn’t happened.”
