Paper round-up: Palace and West Ham eyeing deal for Cahill

Crystal Palace and West Ham are hoping to sign Gary Cahill, according to the Daily Mail.

The former England defender is a free agent having left Chelsea this summer and has also been linked with Burnley.

The Mail say Palace boss Roy Hodgson is keen to beat the Hammers and Burnley to the signing of Cahill, whose future is expected to be decided soon.

Meanwhile, the Daily Express say Tottenham are confident of signing Ryan Sessegnon but would like to offload Danny Rose first.

Sessegnon has a year remaining on his contract at Fulham and has been widely tipped to leave Craven Cottage.

The teenager has been touted as a replacement for England left-back Rose, who has been linked with several clubs.

The Sun say Spurs are still trying to land Real Betis star Giovani Lo Celso and that Palace want Montpellier right-back Ruben Aguilar.

Danny Drinkwater is set to stay at Chelsea rather than move on, despite not being in manager Frank Lampard’s plans, again according to The Sun.

Derby County are poised to sign midfielder Krystian Bielik from Arsenal in a club-record deal worth up to £9.5m, the Daily Telegraph reports.

And Palace have offered Brentford £11m for forward Ollie Watkins, according to the Mail.
