Zaha to be assessed before Liverpool game – Hodgson

Roy Hodgson has indicated that Wilfried Zaha might not start for Crystal Palace against Liverpool.

Zaha recently returned after a knee injury, playing almost the whole game in the win against Huddersfield – his second match since returning to action.

However, he has not been able to train fully this week and looks a doubt for Saturday’s game.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday afternoon, Palace boss Hodgson said he would assess Zaha’s fitness before deciding his line-up.

“He has not been doing any training with us to any great extent. We are nursing the knee problem that he has,” Hodgson explained.

“He is one that we will have a look at tomorrow and we hope that the knee will be okay.

“We have had to be very cautious with him after the Huddersfield game because he came back from injury a lot earlier than perhaps he should have done.”

And Zaha is not the only injury doubt ahead of the game.

“We still have doubts on James Tomkins and Alex Sorloth. We will check them but they are very much doubts, as is Connor Wickham,” Hodgson said.
