Jamie Redknapp has no doubt about what Hudson-Odoi’s best position is

Jamie Redknapp is convinced Callum Hudson-Odoi’s best position is on the left flank.

The Chelsea youngster had a frustrating time on the right against Manchester United and was well contained by Brandon Williams.

Hudson-Odoi had more joy when he switched flank – and pundit Redknapp believes that’s where he should be playing.

Speaking on Sky Sports, former England midfielder Redknapp said: “Hudson-Odoi didn’t do enough although in the second half he started to do better.

“He certainly did better when he went on the left. I think Brandon Willians did a good job on him.

“When I look at Callum on the right he looks like he runs into options where he can’t do anything.

“On the left-hand side he can go down the line, he can cut inside, play little one-twos – it seems to suit him.

“When he plays on the right he’s got to find ways of taking on a defender.”

Redknapp also believes that Hudson-Odoi can learn a lot from his Chelsea team-mate Pedro.

He explained: “I feel like he’s got a lot to learn still. He’s got so much talent, but he’s got to find ways of receiving the ball.

“He’s got to learn. He’s got to keep working on his game. Look at the likes of Pedro – Pedro’s a brilliant role model for him because Pedro has such good movement.

“With Callum, it was only when he went on to the other side that we started to see the player that we all know he can be.”
