Lampard wants Chelsea duo to sign new deals

Frank Lampard has admitted he is keen for Chelsea youngsters Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori to sign new contracts.

The likes of Callum Hudson-Odoi have signed long-term deals with the Blues and talks are taking place with Abraham and Tomori with a view to them also committing their long-term futures to the club.

And, speaking at a press conference on Friday afternoon, manager Lampard said he hopes both will put pen to paper.

“Of course I do,” said Lampard, who has promoted both players to the first team this season.

“That goes slightly out of my remit and they are dealing with the club. But I know the club I love the players.

“I’m brought them into the team this season and they are doing particularly well. But I leave those conversations to the club to discuss contracts but, of course, I want them to be here for a long time.

“That’s the conversation for me and the club. I’ve made it clear that they are playing very well and I want them to stay.”

However, Lampard’s immediate concern is to get N’Golo Kante back from injury.

The Frenchman is now being troubled by a groin problem and Chelsea are unsure when he will be able to return.

Lampard said: “He’s training on his own with some physical work. We need to get him right now, because he’s been in and out during the season.”
