Ian Wright makes prediction about Chelsea star

Ian Wright has predicted that Tammy Abraham will continue scoring for Chelsea if he maintains his self belief.

Abraham has faced criticism for his performances since the start of the season but looked the part against Norwich.

He was restored to the starting line-up at Carrow Road and scored twice in a 3-2 win for the Blues.

And pundit Wright believes the striker is capable of making an impact this season despite a difficult start to the campaign.

The former Arsenal and England striker said on Match of the Day: “As long as his confidence stays up, he’s going to score goals.”

Boss Frank Lampard has shown great faith in Abraham, giving him Chelsea’s number nine shirt and defending him when he faced criticism.

And Lampard’s faith was rewarded with a performance of real quality, while Mason Mount again impressed in midfield.

“It’s been a long way for him to get to the Chelsea first team,” Wright said.

“That number nine shirt’s very heavy – we’ve seen that with some strikers down the years. But the faith his manager’s shown, he repaid it.

“People were saying about the hold-up play and maybe Giroud should be playing because of the holding up, but he done that brilliantly.”
