Coach reveals reason Pulisic snubbed Man Utd before joining Chelsea

Christian Pulisic rejected a move to Manchester United because of Jose Mourinho, a former coach of the American has told the Daily Telegraph.

Pulisic was linked with a number of clubs before joining the Blues from German side Borussia Dortmund.

He has impressed so far for Chelsea despite them not winning any of their opening three matches this season.

And Robin Walker, who worked with him when the player spent some time in England with non-League club Brackley Town, has claimed that Pulisic didn’t fancy a move to United when Mourinho was manager at Old Trafford.

Pulisic’s father was seemingly put off by Mourinho’s apparent reluctance to select young players.

“I’m a Chelsea fan, I grew up in London supporting them,” Walker said.

“When I was in Dortmund last year, I told him that he had to come. He wouldn’t go to Manchester United because of Jose Mourinho.

“His father couldn’t stand Mourinho because he didn’t promote young players. It was at that point I asked, ‘What about London? That’s where it’s at.’

“I was trying to sell the city. His agent agreed, saying, ‘When you make these decisions, it’s all about investment and property’.

“I was delighted that he did sign.”
