Chelsea trio set to return: Expected line-up against Bayern

Chelsea face a tough task against Bayern Munich in the Champions League tonight and boss Frank Lampard has key decision to make.

Lampard should be able to welcome Tammy Abraham back into the starting line-up after injury – and that might well lead to a change of formation.

Olivier Giroud scored against Tottenham and did superbly in Abraham’s absence, but Lampard’s decision to play with wing-backs and three central defenders for the game was based largely on a desire to get the ball forward to Giroud early and the likes of Mason Mount forward in support.

Switching back to a back four could also see Saturday’s other goalscorer, Marcos Alonso, drop out of the side too.

Lampard has hinted that he will start with Reece James, which would probably see Cesar Azpilicueta play at left-back.

Meanwhile, Willian, who came on as a substitute against Spurs, seems likely to return to the starting line-up at the expense of Ross Barkley.

And with Pedro back in the squad after a minor injury, Lampard might also opt for the Spaniard’s vast experience on a huge night at Stamford Bridge.

Expected Chelsea line-up: Caballero, James, Rudiger, Christensen, Azpilicueta, Jorginho, Kovacic, Willian, Mount, Pedro, Abraham.
