N’Golo Kante looks set to sign a new long-term contract at Chelsea.
The club have been in negotiations with the France midfielder, who has been linked with a move to Paris St-Germain.
And French publication L’Equipe have reported that an agreement is close and that Kante is set put pen to paper on a lucrative new deal.
The report also suggests that the new contract will put Kante’s wages on a par the Premier League’s top earners such as Arsenal star Mesut Ozil and Manchester United’s Alexis Sanchez, who both reportedly earn around £300,000 a week.
Kante, 27, has made a major impact since arriving at Chelsea from Leicester City in 2016.
Having won the Premier League title during his time at Leicester, he played a key role in helping Chelsea win it in his first season at Stamford Bridge.
He has continued to perform for club and country – winning the World Cup with France during the summer.
Known as a top-class defensive midfielder, Kante has been asked to perform in a more attacking role by Maurizio Sarri since the Italian took over as Chelsea boss.
France manager Didier Deschamps this week insisted that Kante is capable of shining in the new position despite suggestions he is not as effective in the role.
