Newcastle and Leicester both eyeing Bees star

Newcastle and Leicester City both want Brentford star Said Benrahma, according to The Sun.

The Algerian winger has been superb for the Bees this season in their so-called BMW attack of Benrahma, Bryan Mbeumo and Ollie Watkins.

And The Sun say both Leicester and Newcastle are prepared to pay £15m for Benrahma this summer.

He has been a revelation since arriving at Griffin Park from French club Nice for just £1.5m in 2018.

And there is speculation that Brentford could lose him unless they win promotion to the Premier League this season.

Aston Villa were previously seen as frontrunners to sign Benrahma.

But Villa, managed by former Bees boss Dean Smith, are struggling to stay in the top flight – and could even swap divisions with Brentford.

The Bees are fifth in the Championship table and their last season at Griffin Park before they move to a new stadium at Lionel Road could yet end in promotion to the big time.

Brentford will also be in a strong position to demand a hefty fee for Benrahma if they do end up selling him.

The west London club have banked many millions from the sales of various players in recent years.
