Paper round-up: Telegraph say Emery has £70m to spend

Arsenal continue to be linked with several players and be tipped to spend following the appointment of Unai Emery.

The Daily Mail say Emery will have a transfer budget of around £50m for this summer and wants to strengthen in midfield and defence primarily.

But the Daily Telegraph say Arsenal’s majority shareholder Stan Kroenke has already increased Emery’s summer transfer budget by £20m to £70m.

The Telegraph also say Arsenal will look to tempt Sampdoria’s Belgium midfielder Dennis Praet to come to England rather than join Juventus, who have been tipped to sign him.

However, Emery’s first signing could be a free transfer in Stephan Lichtsteiner, whose Juventus contract is about to expire.

The Swiss right-back, 34, is in talks with the Gunners about joining them, The Guardian reports.

Meanwhile, Maurizio Sarri believes he is close to taking over as Chelsea boss, the Daily Telegraph say.

The Blues are widely tipped to replace Antonio Conte, who has a year remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge.

The Telegraph say Sarri, who recently left Napoli, is desperate to land the Chelsea job and believes he is close to being offered a two-year contract with the option of a third year.

The Guardian believe Chelsea face competition from Zenit St Petersburg.

It is claimed that he has received an offer from the Russian club understood to be worth around £5.2m a year.

And Tottenham want Manchester United forward Anthony Martial as part of an exchange deal for Toby Alderweireld, The Sun say.

It comes with United showing an interest in the Spurs defender and amid reports that Martial could be heading to north London.

The Sun say Spurs value Alderweireld at more than £70m and are determined to drive a hard bargain.
