Paper round-up: Sun tip Arsenal to move for Pepe

The Sun say Arsenal boss Unai Emery could step up his pursuit of Lille star Nicolas Pepe in the wake of Danny Welbeck’s injury.

It comes after Welbeck suffered what appeared to be a serious injury against Sporting Lisbon and amid reports that Pepe is a Gunners transfer target.

Welbeck’s injury means that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are now Arsenal’s only available senior strikers, with youngster Eddie Nketiah next in the pecking order.

The Sun say Arsenal might therefore look to bring in Pepe but face competition from Manchester City as well as German clubs Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, so he will not be cheap.

The Daily Mail reports that Arsenal fear Welbeck will miss the rest of the season and that doctors are considering surgery on his right ankle.

Welbeck’s contract at Arsenal expires at the end of the season.

So does Aaron Ramsey’s and there continues to be speculation over the midfielder’s future – The Sun reports that he is wanted by Chinese clubs.

Meanwhile, Samir Nasri wants £5m-a-year to join West Ham, according to the Mail.

Former Arsenal star Nasri, who previously played under Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini at Manchester City, is reportedly in talks about a move to the London Stadium.

He is a free agent, having served an 18-month drugs ban. Everton have also been linked with him.
